Not your average Mother-in-Law.

Some people come into our lives, make footprints on our hearts, move our souls to dance and we are never the same. People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.

One person who makes me smile, make my heart dance is my mummy-in-law. Well, we have a huge age difference, we do have our differences at times (I am really a tough nut to crack) all that apart, shes got a huge heart. There's this one instance especially, which always make me thankful to God for giving me such a wonderful family.

We are Syrian Christians and both hubby and me are Marthomites. So according to tradition, your first daughters Godmother is always the husbands mother. In my case, I have a son whose Godfather is my father in law. Then my beautiful daughter was born. So my mom in law has to be the Godmother and this in our tradition is the right of the husband's family. And usually nobody gives up that right. And my Dad was my first nephew's Godfather (again according to the unwritten rules...or is it written somewhere, I have no clue). And my mom didn't get a chance to be anyone's Godmother coz I have 2 lovely nephews and no niece, plus I don't have a second daughter (in that case also my mom can be the Godmother).

But you know what, on the day of my daughters baptism, my mom in law calls up my mom and tells her to be Anica's Godmother coz she felt that it is unfair that my mom never got a chance and in my mom in law's case, my daughter is her third grand daughter, so she already got her chance long back... :) My mom couldn't believe her ears. Till then, she had not heard of anything like that in the immediate family circles. My mom was so touched and that is how my mom became my daughter's Godmother.

This is what life is all about- my mom in law taught me this valuable lesson, by her action - life is all about touching others, being in other's shoes and thinking. She didn't give me a one hour lecture on that, just showed me by her actions. She is one great woman and I am so blessed.

That's my daughter with my in laws.

And we and mom on our lil girl's baptism day.
